DM Histopathology is a two-year diploma course. Medical Histopathology is categorized as clinical pathology and anatomic pathology. Histopathology is the study of disciplines of microbiology, immunology, clinical chemistry, and Haematology. Anatomic pathology comprises the study of cellular and tissue.

Eligibility Criteria for DM Histopathology
1. Candidates must have passed 10+2+3 or equivalent in the science stream with physics, chemistry, and biology as compulsory subjects.
2. The minimum percentage for the course is 50% but it may vary from college to college.
3. Candidates must have a Graduation degree in any related field together with B.Sc. in Biology, MBBS, Microbiology, or Biotechnology.
Admission Process
1. The aspirants who wish to apply for diploma or MD courses in pathology need to complete the MBBS program. The admission to MBBS will be via NEET UG.
2. Some colleges in India offer admission based on the marks in the qualifying examination. However, some may provide admission through the entrance test.
3. Many universities/institutions conduct their entrance test for providing admission. Some of the popular postgraduate-level medical entrance tests are JIPMER PG, AIIMS PG, etc.
4. The basic procedure of counseling and seat allotment is followed post the declaration of the result.
Career after DM Histopathology
Histopathologists are hired as a diagnostician in hospitals, investigators or researchers in medical laboratories, and as professors in colleges and Universities. Pathologists can also set up their career in the research and teaching field after finishing post-graduation and then a Ph.D. degree in clinical pathology. There are several job offers existing in India and in foreign countries for pathologists.
Various government and private hospitals offer employment to pathologists. Recognized hospitals like the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) avail positions for pathologists. Vacancies are also available in the National Institute of Health, Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, etc.
The Histopathology can open his/her pathology lab. Pathologists are open to employment in agriculture, public health, law enforcement, and many other fields.
